Founded in 1989, Bayside Woodturners and Woodcrafters Club is a friendly club where the pursuit of excellence in wood art is a common bond that draws together a group of 140 members (and growing) for camaraderie and mutual help. “There are no secrets at Bayside Woodies”.

Originally founded as a turning group, the club has grown as a multi-faceted organization . The club conducts instruction in Woodturning, Machinery /Box-making, Pyrography, Carving, Scroll saw and Intarsia. Individual members pursue various extensions of Clock-making, Ornamental Turning, Model-making and Weather-wall/clock combinations.

The Club and its activity groups meet at our Clubhouse located at 15 Harman St. Manly under the shade of the ‘luckiest’ Camphor Laurel trees in Australia.

The Club’s major meeting is a “Show and Tell” meeting on Wednesday mornings from 10 am. The Club is open from 8am for ‘coffee and a chat’ while the Workshop is supervised for members turning or using equipment to supplement their needs.

We conduct demonstrations on the first Saturday morning of each month at 9am, incorporating visiting demonstrators as well as our own members.

Bayside Woodies attends various functions to demonstrate and display our work as well as selling finished products. These are as small as local nursing homes and as large as “Working with Wood Show”. Our major display (inaugurated in 2014) is “Art in Wood” held at Yurara centre at Thornlands in November.

We also conduct various social functions throughout the year.

Membership is $30 p.a. and is open to anyone over the age of 15, with concessions for family , associate and juniors.(Join here).
